Patient well-being – The ultimate aim of all flow cytometry research

As flow cytometrists, our focus is mostly on setting up the instruments and designing experiments with the most appropriate reagent panels. However, an undeniable fact is that our overriding concern should be about the suffering patients, who badly need our expertise and continuous research. To shed light on this aspect, BD organised an event titled “Transforming cancer screening and diagnosis: Real-life testimonials” at the ESCCA Congress in September 2018. In this event, the first of its kind for BD, a cancer patient, a clinician, a lab hematologist and a member of a cancer support group were brought together to talk about their work and experience. What resulted was a forty-five minute long, candid and emotional exchange of experiences and perspectives.
