High-parameter flow cytometry has been one of the primary drivers of cell biology research in recent times. However, cell analysers, specifically the BD FACSymphony™ A5 and A3, have developed faster than compatible cell sorters when it comes to increasing the number of available parameters. All that is set to change with the introduction of the BD FACSymphony™ S6 cell sorter, a special order cell sorter designed to put you at the forefront of research. Built on the foundations of the BD FACSymphony™ A5 cell analyser and the BD FACSAria™ Fusion cell sorter, the BD FACSymphony™ S6 allows the sorting of complex hierarchies of populations identified with 20 or more colours. Up to 60 parameters can be used to define populations deep in the hierarchy, and six of them can be sorted at any one time allowing precise isolation of the populations of interest for downstream assays.
The BD FACSymphony™ S6 also features low noise electronics, highly sensitive PMT detectors and advanced optics designed to maximise signal collection. Coupled with the BD patented gel cuvette, these features enable excellent resolution of dim populations. High-performance sorting is enabled by the BD Accudrop™ technology, which maintains optimal breakoff and pauses the sorting to protect the purity of the sorted samples. Other features like index sort and tray position information permit the identification of the surface phenotype of every cell deposited in a multiple position device like a 96-well plate, and the linking of post-isolation results to each sorted cell.
Combined with BD’s leadership in high-parameter flow cytometry with the BD FACSymphony™ family of cell analysers and the BD Horizon™ Brilliant dyes, the BD FACSymphony™ S6 cell sorter allows you to move very quickly between identifying the biological question to analysis and sorting. In addition, newly developed and advanced software tools are now available in FlowJo™, specifically directed at the transition between analysis and sorting.
